Project: Conduct User Research on Your Product Idea from The Product Design Thinking Unit

Conduct user research on the product idea you created in the Product Design Thinking unit when you started the program. First, set up qualification parameters on who can qualify as your potential users. What kind of criteria do they have to meet in order to fit into the demographics of your target customers? Then, write a series of questions based on your hypothesis around the pain point. What information would be helpful to find out? Remember to carefully craft your questions to be more open-ended and not leading.

Recruit participants who fit into your customer profile. Try to get at least 5-8 people to agree to a recorded user interview.

Conduct user interviews based on the questions you drafted. Remember to follow up with additional questions during the interview to dive deeper.

  1. Your pre-qualification criteria and survey
  2. Your interview questions and scripts
  3. Summary of your learnings from each user interview

Although not required to deliver, you should keep an organized copy of all the interview recordings and transcripts if you are able to transcribe them using an application for your case study later.

Share a link to your user research. You may choose any medium of recording and organizing them, but they need to be put in a place where a sharable URL can be generated. Share that with your instructor when you schedule a review session.
